Ron Howard, director of phenomenal true story adaptations like Apollo 13 and Frost/Nixon, has turned his immense talent towards an adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick’s In the Heart of the Sea. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, Philbrick’s lauded novel is the basis for Moby Dick, telling the story of the crew on the Whaleship Essex. What happens next is spoiler territory.

In the Heart of The Sea tells the story of the burdened crew from the POV of young Thomas Nickerson (played by The Impossible‘s Tom Holland) and narrated by old Thomas (Gangs of New York‘s Brendan Gleeson). Captained by Owen Chase (Chris Hemsworth), the crew is amassed of other great talent including Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, and Benjamin Walker.
