Following a single premiere late last month, Cobra Starship have released the official video for their Icona Pop assisted single, “Never Been In Love.”
I don’t know everything that transpired between the last time Cobra Starship released an album and now, but Gabe Saporta has returned to the spotlight with a pop-friendly change of pace that is incredibly infectious. “Never Been In Love” is unlike most of Cobra Starship’s previous material, but the inherent sense of fun that has always driven the group’s sound remains in tact. The video is largely performance based, with brief glimpses of Saporta and the girls of Icona Pop both in the studio and exploring a European city. Check it out:
I don’t know if this song has what it takes to go number one, but if the group’s next album is full of tracks like this I am certain they will have at least one or two potential hits on their hands. It likely also depends on what kind of effect the recent departure of Ryland Blackinton and Alex Suarez will have on the band’s sound.
