First Two ‘Ex Machina’ Trailers Will Make Your Jaw Drop

Alex Garland won his way into the heart of film fans everywhere with 28 Days Later, and now he’s back with a new futuristic story that is sure to leave you screaming for more.

Ex Machina is a science fiction effort that was picked up for distribution by A24 Films earlier this week. The film stars Oscar Isaac as a scientist working to blur the lines between man and machine. He recruits another man to join him while he tests an experimental new machine, but it soon becomes clear that Isaac’s character is withholding information for the purposes of his own nefarious scientific study. What happens next is still up in the air, but the special effects alone make Ex Machina a film worth checking out. You can view the flick’s first domestic and international trailers below:

The official synopsis reads:

Caleb Smith (Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company’s brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Isaac). Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test – charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated–and more deceptive–than the two men could have imagined.

Ex Machina hits theaters in April 2015. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the trailer.
