Margot Robbie To Play Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ Film

After long-standing rumors that the character of Harley Quinn would not be included in the upcoming Suicide Squad film, our friends at Collider are reporting that the famed Joker sidekick will indeed be present in DC Comics’ cinematic universe.

According to a story that broke over the weekend, Margot Robbie has been tapped to portray Harley Quinn – sometimes known as Harley Quinzel – in the upcoming Suicide Squad film. For those who don’t know the character, she was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series as the Joker’s girlfriend/henchwoman/shrink, and has gone on to become a popular rogue/anti-hero in her own right. She and the rest of the Suicide Squad are essentially a group of B and C-list villains who team up to stop true evildoers from destroying the world.

There is very little known about the Suicide Squad film, but we’re guessing the groundwork for the story will be laid during Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Whether or not Harley will appear in that film remains unknown, but considering the fact most of the people who will eventually get films in the DC universe have been included in the cast it seems safe to assume Robbie’s character will as well.

If you don’t know Margot Robbie, do yourself a favor and watch The Wolf Of Wall Street as soon as humanly possible. Robbie portrays The Duchess, otherwise known as Naomi Lapaglia. Robbie is currently working on a new live action version of Tarzan, which is due to hit theaters in 2016 with Robbie portraying the role of Jane.

We’ll bring you more on this story as soon as additional information begins to surface.
