Kanye West Reworks Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” For ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One’ Soundtrack

While the chances of Kayne West dropping a new record in 2014 are looking grim, we’ve been blessed with a couple of great remixes from Yeezy in the past few months. The latest addition to his creative body of work is a re-tooling of Lorde’s contribution to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One soundtrack.

Kanye shows his powerful production skills in a toned-down and ambient rendition of the New Zealand singer’s latest single. While I was hoping for a verse, it’s clear that it wouldn’t have been a necessary addition – the track serves as a reminder that Kanye’s production prowess alone could have skyrocketed him to fame.

The new song appears alongside the original mix on the new film’s soundtrack. Lorde also managed to get a cover of Bright Eyes’ “Ladder Song” onto the compilation, which is out November 17 to coincide with the film’s release on November 21.

Check out the new version of “Yellow Flicker Beat” below.
