Listen To A New Song From James Franco’s Band, Daddy

According to our friends at Vice, sometime next year, the multi-talented James Franco will release a full-length album, Let Me Get What I Want, alongside longtime collaborator Tim O’Keefe. The 10-song attempt was produced by <tfo>, and will additionally feature Andy Rourke, Masay Ozaki, Ryan Rooney, and many more.

Operating under the pseudonym Daddy, the duo has officially given us our first glimpse of their forthcoming effort in the form of “This Charming Man,” a complex track that challenges listeners and defies classification. Check it out below:

Let Me Get What I Want was allegedly built around Franco’s own poetry, which was directly inspired by the work of Morrissey.

“I originally wrote this sequence as a way to use one medium (music) to influence another one (poetry),” Franco told Vice. “The Smiths’ songs provided inspiration for the poems, lending tone and situation. Once I had the sequence, Tim and I took the material one step further and turned the poems inspired by songs, back into songs of their own.”

Though the outfit hasn’t yet announced plans for the future, it is inevitable that their output will only increase as 2015 draws nearer. Stay in the know by following UTG on Twitter.
