It’s “only” two minutes long, but anything from a team of Flying Lotus and DOOM is worth pausing for. The track is one of many from the music Flying Lotus contributed to the Xbox One and Playstation 4 reissues of Grand Theft Auto V (for in-game radio station FlyLo FM), but DOOM’s presence sets “Masquatch” apart.
DOOM spits fast over a late-night beat that manages to be both low-key and unrelenting, a bevy of unnerving effects clattering around a drum’s heartbeat (“heartbeat sounds like Sasquatch feet”).
DOOM, as exquisitely odd as ever, is the perfect partner for the off-kilter productions of Flying Lotus. Someone get these two in the studio together – is there any reason “Flying DOOM” or “DOOM Lotus” can’t be added to this list? Listen, this is my second post about an excellent rap duo in the last hour, and I don’t want this to be the last time I talk about Run The Jewels and Flying DOOM (that’s sticking, damn it) in the same evening.
