Last Monday, stand-up comedian and crowd work master Big Jay Oakerson released a new album through Comedy Central Records. The record is appropriately titled The Crowd Work Sessions: Whats Your Fucking Deal?!
Recorded at The Stand in New York City, Big Jay combines elements of his blunt and brutal honesty with whatever his crowd seems to throw his way.
A Philly native transplanted in New York, Oakerson is proud to say he works local clubs in Manhattan at least six nights a week. He’s spent years on the road performing with comics as legendary as Dave Attell and Patrice O’Neal. Recently, you may have caught him on Attell’s show on Comedy Central, Comedy Underground with Dave Attell.
This past week, Under The Gun Review had the pleasure of sitting down with Oakerson for a one-on-one exclusive where we discussed his new album and the craft of crowd work. We also discussed his relationship to The Ron and Fez Show, his own upcoming SiriusXM show with comedian Dan Soder and more.
