Frank Ocean Shares New Song “Memrise”

Frank Ocean is finally back. After the success of his debut studio album, Channel Orange, in 2012, the Odd Future crooner has been back in his studio working on his follow-up full-length. The last material we heard from him was back in March of this year when he teamed up with Diplo and members of The Clash for free mp3 “Hero.” Today, he returns with a short new song that satisfies our sweet tooth until a new LP is announced.

The song, titled “Memrise,” sees Frank Ocean asking a lover to come over, dazzling his tale with all sorts of complimentary embellishments. After posting it to his Tumblr today, it’s begun to quickly spread. It’s got the soft funk side of Thundercat or Toro Y Moi, taking a more subtle approach to the R&B genre than Channel Orange‘s bright beats or “Novacane,” all under two minutes. There’s no word yet on whether or not “Memrise” is from his forthcoming LP.

Check out the song and the lyrics below:

“Memrise” lyrics:

I memorized the wayward expressions
/ Never look down / Never let you see me down /
I memorized the way no directions /
Can I come over now? /
I’d like to stay a little while /
I memorized your body exposed
/ I could f— you all night long
/ From a memory alone / I never forget a face /
Don’t go plastic on me
/ Nothing’s set in stone
/ You’re not dipped in gold /
Dipped in gold
/ You can’t breathe if you’re dipped in gold/
You are not on paper / You are not a copy / You’re so, you’re so…so thick, so thick
