UTG TV: The Matches Talk Reunion Shows

In 2004, Epitaph Records re-released The Matches‘ debut album E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals. Ten years later and after a break from being a band, the guys got back together to repress some vinyl. They didn’t expect it to turn into a series of sold-out reunion shows in Chicago, New York City, and even Australia.

On the second night of The Matches’ gigs at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre, we sat down with Shawn Harris (vocals/guitar) and Matt Whalen (drums) to talk about their experience in reuniting the band.

Check below the jump to hear about the nostalgic and humbling moments The Matches have undergone in 2014. They explain how a single vinyl pressing and one California show turned into an undeniable demand for more shows by longtime fans of the band.
