Folk harpist and singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom has been pretty silent over the last few years. After tying the knot with Andy Samberg, making a cameo on Portlandia, and starring in the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, she’s been laying relatively low. With the release of her massive record Have One On Me, a two-hour saga of whimsical fairy folk, in 2010, it was safe to assume she needed time to work on an adequate follow-up. Now, as FACT points out, that material may be on its way.
In a new interview with Dazed, she said she hopes to announce a new album soon. “I’m working on something new – I should hopefully have a little more news soon,” she says. “I’ve been working hard for a lot of those five years on a new idea.”
In the meantime, her narration and role in Inherent Vice will have to suffice.
