Indie breakthrough outfit, Imagine Dragons, have announced that they will be releasing the follow-up to their Billboard-charting debut record, Night Vision. The upcoming sophomore full-length is entitled Smoke + Mirrors, and it will be available worldwide on February 17.
The band has already released the first single, “I Bet My Life.” Today, they have unveiled a new song, entitled “Gold.”
In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, lead singer Dan Reynolds shares: “’Gold’ is one of the last songs written for this album. I came home from tour with my head spinning and decided to run away for a bit to the west coast and reflect/write about the last couple years. If you listen closely to the sample of me whistling into my laptop by the ocean, you can hear a wave that crashed while I was recording it. I loved the take because it seemed to crash perfectly in time. It takes me back to that spot every time I hear the song.”
You can now listen to “Gold” below.
You can pre-order Smoke + Mirrors via iTunes here.
