Attention all Dead Heads! Your time has come to see one of the greatest jam bands to ever grace a stage for the last time. That’s right, the Grateful Dead will be reuniting for a trio of shows for 4th of July weekend.
Famous for its eclectic utilization of various musical genres, the band announced the shows to celebrate 50 years as an outfit, with the band’s formation in 1965. The trio of shows will take place at Soldier Field in Chicago from July 3-5. The reunion will include original members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann as well as Mickey Hart. With the late Jerry Garcia passing back in 1995, Grateful Dead have secured Phish frontman Trey Anastasio to sing for the shows. According to Weir, they will not be embarking on a tour and “these will be the last shows with the four of us together.” A fan club pre-sale is set for February 12-13 with the general public sale set for February 14.
Check out the tour poster below of the show announcements and if you are in the Chicago area, this is a show you should not miss.
