Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney Just Dropped a New Song Called “FourFiveSeconds”

Out of nowhere, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney just dropped a new song. The track, called “FourFiveSeconds,” is three minutes of inter-tangled talent that sounds like a stripped-down studio recording, much of which is dominated by Rihanna’s soulful return to the music world. If this is the song Kanye played for radio programmers, we fully support this one getting major airplay.

“FourFiveSeconds” is much more heartfelt than the combination of the three may lead you to expect. McCartney provides the rhythm and backing music on acoustic guitar while Rihanna takes over for most of the verses, occasionally stepping to the side for Kanye to let a few lines out about daily ups and downs. It has a happier sentimentality than West’s other collaboration with McCartney, the beautiful “Only One.” The song’s credits also include Kirby Lauryen, Mike Dean, Ty Dolla $ign, Dave Longstreth, Dallas Austin, Elon Rutberg, and Noah Goldstein. It’s unclear yet if this song will be on his album or Rihanna’s since both have new full-lengths coming this year. Given Rihanna’s tweet about the song, however, it seems likely that it will be off her record.
