20th Century Fox has unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four.

There has been a lot of rumors surrounding the rebirth of the Fantastic Four, including the possibility of the team’s origin story being completely rewritten to fit a more modern, tech-heavy story. The first trailer keeps the exact cause of the group’s transformation a mystery, but otherwise looks to be the grittiest, perhaps most aggressive take on a superhero film in recent memory. It still carries that typical comic book feel, but there is also some influence from Christopher Nolan’s vision of Batman at play as well. You can view the trailer below.

A summary of the new Fantastic Four describes the film as follows:

“a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
