Alexisonfire Announce Return, Confirm 2015 Festival Dates

Following Thrice’s lead, Canadian post-hardcore outfit Alexisonfire has announced they’ll return for a series of seven festival performances this summer after teasing an announcement last week with a cryptic #AOF2015 Instagram post.

The band has confirmed they’ll appear at Toronto’s Riot Fest, which takes place on September 19-20. Following this announcement, Riot Fest has announced they’ll have a limited number of Early Bird Presale tickets on sale beginning this Friday. Alexisonfire has also confirmed another handful of dates between additional Canadian festivals and the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England, but this announcement is perhaps most exciting (and nerve-wracking) for the band’s American fans.

The U.S. was completely neglected when Alexisonfire made their farewell tour across Canada, Australia, Brazil and England back in 2012, but there is hope in the form of one “USA-TBA” date on the band’s 2015 itinerary. Where might this performance take place? Riot Fest’s flagship event in Chicago seems like a safe bet.

Not only does Chicago’s Riot Fest conveniently take place during an off-weekend between the band’s announced appearances at X-Fest and Toronto’s Riot Fest, but Riot Fest has shown a propensity for sharing acts between their three festivals — including Alexisonfire guitarist/vocalist Dallas Green’s City and Colour, who played all three festivals (Toronto, Chicago and Denver) last year.

Stay tuned into UTG as we’ll be sure to pass along any updates. Meanwhile, I’m going to continue exclusively listening to music released a decade ago for the rest of 2015.
