UTG PREMIERE: Corey Kilgannon – “Doubter’s Prayer” (Video)

Under The Gun Review is thrilled to team up with Nashville singer-songwriter Corey Kilgannon to premiere his brand new video for “Doubter’s Prayer.”

“Doubter’s Prayer” comes off Kilgannon’s upcoming EP, titled Hospital Hymns, which is due out on March 31. The track is a beautiful acoustic offering with affecting vocals that reveal Kilgannon’s honest and intimate lyrical delivery as he ponders the effectiveness of prayer, ultimately exploring his own faith. The accompanying video features a timelapse as a painting is created on a wall and represents, as Kilgannon says, the “incredible ‘abstractness’ to prayer.”

In regards to the song, Kilgannon shares: “I wrote this while studying Theology and felt like God was this scientific equation that I needed to understand fully so I could live a good life and get nice things. I struggle with the idea of prayer, with truly believing that it actually does anything. This was meant to simply be a personal take at The Lord’s Prayer.”

You can view the video for “Doubter’s Prayer” below. Fans of acts ranging as wide as Loudon Wainwright III to Andy Hull’s Right Away, Great Captain! should find themselves right at home in Kilgannon’s comfortable, welcoming melodies and personal revelations.

Kilgannon is currently in Austin for SXSW with some more shows taking place down south for the remainder of the month. You can find those dates below and follow Corey on Twitter and Facebook.
