Black Sabbath Reach No. 1 On UK Charts After 42 Years, Continue To Be Old

In 2009, Bob Dylan released Together Through Life, his thirty third studio album. It was the first album of his to hit number one on the UK charts in 39 years. Back in March, David Bowie mounted a good effort and reached number one in the UK (and number two in the US) with The Next Day. Black Sabbath have seemingly topped them all, debuting at number one in the UK forty two years and eight months after Paranoid charted that high, according to Billboard.

The new Black Sabbath album, 13, features Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk on drums. I’d root for a Rage reunion album to happen and then chart, but even that would make me feel old, with it being a fourteen year wait between number one albums in the US (and no Rage album ever hit number one in the UK). Wilk will be on tour with Sabbath, too; that tour starts in July.

Friendly reminder: including Brad Wilk, the average age for a Black Sabbath member is lowered down to the age of 59. You can see the old fogies’ tour dates here after the break.
