Jamie xx Announces Debut Album ‘In Colour,’ Shares “Loud Places”

If you couldn’t stop playing Jamie xx‘s single “Girl” last year, get excited. The xx member and electronic musician has announced his debut album, In Colour, drops June 2 via Young Turks and features collaborations with The xx’s Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim, Young Thug, Popcaan, and Four Tet. Pre-orders are ongoing here. In anticipation of the 11-track release, he’s shared a new single and music video titled “Loud Places.”

Previous singles “Girl” and “Sleep Sound” will be joined on the album by “Loud Places,” a soaring yet mellow number featuring vocals from The xx member Romy Madley Croft. Its deep bass and graceful hand claps get elevated by somber piano and the occasional synth popping in the background. Directed by Simon Halsall and Jean-Baptiste Fugger, the music video brings “Loud Places” to life, illustrating city life with passing subways, skateboards on half pipes, and all sorts of 3D confetti. It’s as colorful as the album cover which, given everything we know so far, seems pretty spot on.
