Twenty One Pilots Premiere New Track “Lane Boy”

Twenty One Pilots are gearing up to release Blurryface on May 19 via Fueled By Ramen, and have just dropped the latest single “Lane Boy.”

The band has become well known for their tendency to blend a wide array of sounds and genres to create a pop-rap fusion of sorts. While some electronic elements are present here, particularly in the bridge, the verses and chorus are heavy on a nylon string part that sounds like gently strummed guitar or ukulele. There’s a trace of island music throughout the song as well. It’s clear that Twenty One Pilots are attempting make something a bit different from their 2013 record Vessel, and I’m excited to see how it stacks up.
