Courtney Love Surprises Everyone With “Miss Narcissist”

It has been far, far too long since we have had a reason to write about the career of Courtney Love. Known best to rock fans as the founder of Hole, Love has spent a lot of time in the limelight over the last half decade without releasing much in the form of new music (and that contribution to Empire does not count), but today all that changes as the world wakes to greet “Miss Narcissist.”

Recorded without anyone in the press or public knowing Love had new material in the works, “Miss Narcissist” appeared online early Monday morning through Ghost Ramp, the label run by Wavves frontman Nathan Williams. The song is a lo-fi banger that sounds like something recorded in your best friend’s garage until the vocal track kicks in and Love’s signature wail sends the entire affair into the stratosphere of all things cool. I don’t know that I will ever be able to tell you what it is about Courtney’s voice that makes it sound as if it’s always performing for arenas packed with screaming fans, but she proves with this offering that her talent has not wavered in the slightest during her time away. You can enjoy the song below.

“Miss Narcissist” is out digitally today on Ghost Ramp/Crush Music, and a “Miss Narcissist” b/w “Radio Killer” 7″ single is coming this summer. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
