Taking Back Sunday Is Still Your Favorite Band Ever

The band that served as the soundtrack to your first true romance and the heartache that inevitably followed have a new single that is proof they’re only getting better with age.

“Better Homes And Gardens” was an immediate standout on Taking Back Sunday‘s Happiness Is…, so it’s great to see it have a chance for additional exposure with the release of a fantastic new music video. The clip mirrors the emotional turmoil filling the spaces between vocalist Adam Lazzara‘s croons of a once great romance falling apart while standing on the verge of an eternity together with imagery of a once complete home being set ablaze by the long-haired frontman. You can view the DJay Brawner-directed clip below.

I don’t care what your friend who believes emo died in 2011 along with the careers of the bands that pioneered its post-Y2K evolution says about Taking Back Sunday’s recent releases because they’re all better than whatever your now former friend claims you should be listening to instead. In fact, those bands were probably inspired by something Taking Back Sunday wrote a decade ago, and they’re more than likely still trying to catch up with the knowledge TBS have gained and talent they have been able to develop through constant dedication to one skill for a period as long as the lifespan of their youngest fans. Hell, the bands that started because of this band having disagreements are all better than those bands. I don’t mean to be rude, but it’s definitely true.

Furthermore, Happiness Is… can match any album you thought dominated 2014, and the reissue Hopeless dropped earlier this year only makes the experience more complete. Do yourself a favor and buy it today.

Those of you in the UK can see Taking Back Sunday live this summer, but for those of us in the states there are only a five dates posted on the band’s calendar thus far, and two of them are in the Ohio. Road trip, anyone?
