Refused Stream Second ‘Freedom’ Single, “Françafrique”

On June 30, Refused will unleash Freedom, their first new album in nearly two decades. In anticipation, the Swedish four-piece have begun streaming a poignant new track titled “Françafrique.”

Though considerably “lighter” than the previously released “Elektra,” the hardcore titans’ latest offering is no less affecting, drawing its power from the vivid imagery of frontman Dennis Lyxzén. Some exceptional guitar work further adds to the fun, and over the course of five minutes it becomes increasingly clear that, even after 17 years, Refused are still willing to take risks that most of their peers wouldn’t dream of. If “Françafrique” is a sign of things to come, then color me excited.

Check out the track below, and pre-order Freedom here.
