UTG PREMIERE: Seakings – “Kowloon (Walled City)”

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but UTG has been undergoing a bit of a transformation over the last month. Our staff, which once included over 30 contributors, has been greatly scaled back in order to better focus our editorial efforts and dedicate more time to connecting people with the music, films, and art we really care about. Covering the latest Billboard or Warped Tour sensation no longer matters to us as much as it once did. What we want more than anything else is to ensure the precious time you have to dedicate to media is time well spent, and today we have an incredible up-and-coming act to share with you.

Seakings is the kind of band that should define the future of alternative music. The influence of the early Midwest emo movement is prevalent in essentially everything they do, which helps the band appeal to the current generation of alt music fans, but there is also an undeniable groove to their sound that brings to mind a time when funk was embraced by the music community at large. We knew as soon as we heard their music we had to be involved in their next promotional effort, so today it gives us great pleasure to be able to share the world premiere of “Kowloon (Walled City)” right here on UTG. You can stream the track below.

Seakings will release their new album, Dregs, on June 5 via Little L Records. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll pre-order the album today.
