Everyone believed the Star Wars panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con would be a major event, but no one knew exactly what to expect. The cast was present–including ‘The Legacy Players,’ Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford–as was director JJ Abrams, and somewhere in the middle a behind-the-scenes video from the production of Episode VII was revealed. Twitter was buzzing with talk about the clip and within an hour of the event the footage was made available online. Who needs religion when you have JJ Abrams, am I right? God can’t compete with that kind of turnaround time.
I should warn you: The footage you are about to witness will move you. It’s fun, exciting, and heartfelt, showcasing a deep passion for the project possessed by seemingly everyone involved. You also see a ton of new, practical effects, as well as the official reveal of Simon Pegg’s appearance in the film! You can view the video below.
Every time I get excited for Episode VII I cannot shake the memory of how it felt walking out of Episode I after months of anticipation. Footage like this gives me faith in JJ’s ability to rejuvenate this glorious franchise, and I, like many of you, cannot wait for the film’s December release.
