Fashioncore Is Alive & Well: Atreyu Share “Long Live” Video

Remember the glory days of new millennium post-hardcore? I’m talking about the period between 2004 and 2008 when Victory Records pretty much set the bar for quality in every variation of ‘heavy’ alternative music. There were so many great bands then, and only a select few remain today, with Silverstein arguably being the most successful of the bunch. I love them and always will, but if I had to choose the band that defined this period, at least for me, it would have to be the almighty Atreyu.

Blending elements of emo, hardcore, punk and metal to create something that was both chaotic and beautiful, Atreyu had already created a catalog of acclaimed material with an incredibly high replay value when they went on hiatus in 2011. Now they’re back, and based on their new single, “Long Live,” it seems the best is still to come. The track features everything fans loved about the band’s early days, with an aggressive edge that will no doubt incite mosh pits around the globe, as well as a healthy amount of heart. The song was released earlier today along with its official video, which you can view at the end of this post.

Atreyu will release their new album, which also happens to be titled Long Live, in September. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the band’s comeback single.
