Better Off have spent most of their career flying under the emo radar. Their debut (I Think) I’m Leaving garnered some love from the in-tune blogger universe and their two-track 2014 7-inch Meth Head kept the fire burning with relatively little fanfare outside of the band’s established fanbase. That all changes with the band’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, Milk, due out on September 11 via Equal Vision Records. You can stream the first single, “Whatever, I Don’t Care,” right now.
Immediately, the biggest improvement over previous material on display in “Whatever” is the production value. If you’re anything like me and the band’s recording quality has been a deal breaker in the past, you should find this song much more enjoyable. The track also features an excellent chorus and a grungy instrumental not far off from the sounds found on Mansions’ Doom Loop.
Judge the song for yourself below and make sure to pick up one of the enticing pre-order bundles, on sale here.
