Country darling Kacey Musgraves is an icon in the making, and earlier today she released a video for her cover of Willie Nelson’s classic hit, “Are You Sure.”
Originally appearing as the bonus track on Musgraves’ recent album (Beauty Pageant), the singer-songwriter’s cover of “Are You Sure” is as slow and heartbreaking as Willie Nelson’s original recording. The video finds Musgraves performing the song, along with a little help from Nelson, in a rundown saloon that feels like the perfect accompaniment to the message of the song. You can view the clip below.
There are many songs on Beauty Pageant that could make for a fine single choice, so it’s a little curious to see this particular cut getting pushed to the mainstream country audience. That said, it’s so good you can’t argue with Musgraves’ decision to make sure it reaches as many people as possible.
Beauty Pageant is available now wherever music is sold, and I cannot recommend enough that you check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
