Bradley Cooper Is The Darth Vader Of Chefs In ‘Burnt’ Trailer

Bradley Cooper had a banner year in 2014. Between American Sniper and Guardians Of The Galaxy the screen vet played a significant role in two gigantic blockbusters, which has since given him the ability to choose pretty much any role he wants in Hollywood. So what does a man who has been a little bit of everything decide when he’s given the ability to become whatever he desires? Believe it or not, the answer is a chef. He becomes a chef.

Burnt tells the story of a famous chef who lost his way. Though the reason for his public shaming remains a mystery in the previews, it’s clear from every interaction we see that the chef at the center of our story is plotting a comeback. He believes food is the most important part of life, and he wishes nothing more than to give people food-induced orgasms through his latest venture. Pulling that off may be harder than it sounds, and as we see in the latest trailer there are many who will stand in Bradley Cooper’s way. You can view the footage below.

I know that kitchen staffs exist in what are notoriously known to be high-stress situations, but I don’t think that is the kind of story we are being sold with Burnt. As much as the kitchen plays a role, this looks and feels like another coming-of-middle-age story about a guy trying to make something of himself using the one set of skills he feels confident in. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, and I am sure Cooper will play the role well. I’m just not sure we have another Oscar contender on our hands. Comment below and let us know what you think.

Burnt opens everywhere on October 23.
