UTG PREMIERE: The Head – “It Ain’t Easy” (Music Video)

Today, we have the privilege of premiering The Head‘s brand spankin’ new music video for “It Ain’t Easy,” a gritty rock ‘n’ roll narrative that’s sure to sit well with fans of The Lemonheads, Teenage Fanclub, and R.E.M. The track is taken from the Atlanta trio’s latest EP, Millipedes, which made landfall last week, and has since kept us infinitely entertained with its raucous take on indie rock. Check out the Rebecca Arrowsmith-directed clip after the break, and share your thoughts with us in the comments section.

In regards to the outfit’s latest undertaking, drummer Jack Shaw shared:

“We wanted the video to match the crude vibe of the song. “It Ain’t Easy” was recorded in our guitarist Jacob’s basement with very minimal resources. As a result, the song radiates this very raw energy. Rebecca captured that same energy for the music video by filming with only one camera. She filmed both herself and our singer Mike singing point blank into the camera with various liquids dripping down their faces. She overlaid that footage with B-roll of the band just hanging out along with close-ups of our facial features. All of that footage combined with the tones and transitions of the music video invoke this surreal and abstract imagery that’s reminiscent of those 1930’s arthouse films—films by people like Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel.”

If you dig “It Ain’t Easy,” you can catch The Head on tour for the remainder of the month (dates below).
