REQUIRED LISTENING: Noah Gundersen Has a New Side Project and It’s Spectacular

Perhaps in some distant parallel future Noah Gundersen will eventually release a piece of work that isn’t utterly airtight, but from all indications, that day is still a long ways off.

Earlier this week, the fast-rising folk crooner took to social media to unveil Young In The City, an awesome new musical undertaking that pays homage to the heartland without feeling trapped in the ’80s. Stream the outfit’s self-titled debut below, and if you’re a fan, pick up a copy via Bandcamp.

“Back in high school, I was in a band called Beneath Oceans with my buddies Michael Porter and Keelan O’Hara,” Gundersen explained over Instagram. “This summer we reconnected to see if the old songs were any good. They weren’t, so we started writing new ones. Our friend Jeremy Buller joined us and we retitled the project Young In The City.”

As you probably already guessed, we’re head-over-heels for Noah’s newest offering. While the Seattle native has proven himself a more than capable songwriter in the past, YITC takes his talents to wonderful new locales, bringing to mind the quintessential works of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and other notable musicians. It’s rock ‘n roll in its rawest form, and you absolutely need it in your life.
