Jim Wellman offers smooth and funky jazz on ‘Dawn To Dusk’

Ex-Brand New Heavies (unfortunate, obligatory name-drop) multi-instrumentalist Jim Wellman has a brand new solo album set to release on Monday, February 29.

The album, which should speak for itself with no strings attached to past endeavors—co-founded by the man himself or not—offers 11 tracks of funky, mostly upbeat, jazzy numbers with hints of acid and lots of soul. Featuring perfectly fitting lead vocals by Judy La Rose and all instrumentation by Wellman himself, Dawn To Dusk does double duty, not only serving as a solid album for simple listening pleasure, but also as a “modern social commentary and dissent framed by the perspective of human evolution and psychology.” There’s a lot of content here if you choose to dig below the surface of just taking in the infectious sounds alone.

You can get a sample of the album below via music video for lead single, “Probably Good,” and check out Wellman’s website come Monday to get your hands on his newest release, Dawn To Dusk.
