Despised Icon sign to Nuclear Blast, announce first album in seven years

Deathcore fans have a reason to rejoice as Canadian band Despised Icon has announced that they will be releasing their upcoming fifth studio album (their first since 2009’s Day Of Mourning), titled Beast, through Nuclear Blast sometime this summer. The band has already released an album teaser which you can check out below.

According to the band’s recent Facebook post, fans should expect “sounds of our older slammin’ death metal days blended with the speed and technicality of our latest records.”

Despised Icon is credited for helping shape deathcore by incorporating the time signatures found in death and speed metal along with its brutal growls, blastbeats, and heavy breakdowns. After separating in 2010, the band reformed in 2014 and performed several shows but had not confirmed any plans of recording new material.

Despised Icon will be making festival appearances at Heavy Montreal and Amnesia Rockfest this summer.
