Godzilla is looking angry in the new trailer for Toho’s ‘Godzilla: Resurgence’

Godzilla Reboot

With all due respect to Legendary’s 2014 Godzilla, Toho’s movies featuring the monster will always hold a special place in our hearts. The company that created Godzilla is finally returning to the series after a 12-year absence following Godzilla: Final Wars. The film—a reboot of the franchise—is entitled Godzilla: Resurgence and just got a brand new trailer.

While we don’t get much in the way of plot from the trailer, we do get a very good look at Resurgence‘s version of Godzilla, and the creature is terrifying. The kaiju is enormous, towering over the landscape. If that’s not scary enough, it is also covered in raw, glowing red scars. Sadly there’s no atomic breath shown off, but we do get to hear Godzilla’s iconic roar. The trailer, which you can watch below, focuses on the clash between Godzilla and humans, with no indication if other monsters will be appearing.

Godzilla: Resurgence is slated for release in Japan on July 29. As of now, there are no confirmed plans for a wider release.
