John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson fight for their lives in new ‘Cell’ trailer

It’s safe to say that most of us are pretty attached to our cellphones. Some of you are probably reading this on your cell right now. After viewing the trailer for Cell (via Entertainment Tonight), you might be compelled to set your phone down for a while.

Based on the 2006 Stephen King novel of the same name, Cell finds Clay (John Cusack) in the middle of carnage when a mysterious signal causes everyone using a cell phone to turn into a murderous zombie. These aren’t slow, shambling, Walking Dead zombies, though; think more in the line of 28 Days Later‘s fast, ultra-aggressive variety. Clay must team up with a passing train driver (Samuel L. Jackson) to find and protect his family. You can watch the trailer for yourself after the jump.

The trailer is a good mix between establishing story and showing zombies in action. Director Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) is no stranger to horror, and we’re eager to see the final product.

Cell is slated for VOD release on June 10 before landing in theaters on July 8. Are you excited to see this Stephen King adaptation? Which of King’s works would you like to see on the big screen? Sound off in the comments below.
