Lemuria 2013

Watch: Lemuria – “Brilliant Dancer”

With a June tour with The Menzingers kicking off and a July tour with Kind of Like Spitting to come, Lemuria has released a music video for “Brilliant Dancer.” The song was a single off of last summer’s Bridge 9-released The Distance Is So Big, and it proved to be one of the album’s best tracks.

“We gave Phil Freedenburg a few tools to work with and he nailed it,” read Lemuria’s accompanying Facebook post.

The resulting video, which premiered on Noisey, is as DIY as it gets. We’re talking half a shoestring budget; the camera is …

This is not an April Fool’s joke. Today we are happy to share that Iowa-based hardcore band Modern Life is War has come out of their basement to announce that they are back. The band has been hard at work, having written a new album in September of last year, which is slated to be recorded this coming May. Modern Life is War, as they say it, is an “active band again.”

STREAM: Hierophant – “Son of the Tongue’s Prison”

Most listeners probably aren’t familiar with Italian band Hierophant. Fair enough; they’re only now gearing up for their sophomore release and their debut with Bridge Nine Records Great Mother: Holy Monster. I just hope that, given the information that I’ve just supplied, you can make an educated guess as to Hierophant’s sound.

Ok, let’s go through it step by step. Well, we’ve got highly regarded hardcore imprint Bridge Nine. The band’s name and the title of this song of theirs we’ve got here are both sound vaguely threatening and esoteric. Oh, can’t forget the album title Great Mother:

REVIEW: Alcoa – Bones and Marrow

Artist: Alcoa
Album: Bones and Marrow
Label: Bridge 9

Defeater is a hardcore band that’s been on the rise over the past few years. With their release of Empty Days & Sleepless Nights in 2011, the band grew exponentially in their popularity. They are fast, aggressive and just an overall intense emotional experience. When I found out that singer of Defeater Derek Archambault had a side project named Alcoa, I was skeptical. I knew that the acoustic tracks on Empty Days & Sleepless Nights were awesome, but I didn’t really know how much of a hand Derek had  in …

DOWNLOAD: Alcoa (Derek of Defeater) – “Keep Track / Lose Track”

We’re really excited to finally share with you the first single off of folk side project Alcoa’s debut full-length, “Keep Track / Lose Track,” and it’s really awesome. For those who don’t know, Alcoa is the folk rock side-project of frontman Derek Archambault of Massachusetts hardcore band Defeater. If you’re one of those music goers who likes the acoustic tracks by Defeater more than their heavier material, this is the song for you. “Keep Track / Lose Track” fits perfectly with the vibe Defeater has on their softer songs, and is definitely for fans of The Tower and the
