Under The Gun Review sent staff writer, Drew Caruso, to the Great Scott in Allston, MA on April, 17 to experience S.Carey with support from White Hinterland and Words Like Earth. If you were unsure, I absolutely loved S. Carey’s new album, Range of Light. It is a masterpiece of sound, highly illuminated by Carey’s […]

REVIEW: S. Carey – ‘Range of Light’

Artist: S. Carey Album: Range of Light Genre: Indie Rock Label: Jagjaguwar I love being from New England. In fact, I live for it. Honored by Mother Nature with four vastly distinct seasons, each year is a cyclical twist around the sun, yielding an environmental invigoration that casts a sense of purity, desperately needed in […]

S. Carey Premieres New Song

Sean Carey might be best known his work as the drummer of indie giants Bon Iver and (slightly less so) for his tenure in Minnesota pop punk act Small Towns Burn A Little Slower, but his solo releases under the moniker S. Carey have proven him more than capable of venturing out on his own. […]

Bon Iver Will Return, According To… Bon Iver

In the wake of some over zealous blogs posting that Bon Iver was most likely over (we ourselves posted saying Justin Vernon was “unsure”), his label has posted that Bon Iver will return and pointed at several interviews pointing out the plan has always been for a long hiatus. From Jagjaguwar, both Bon Iver and […]

REVIEW: Bon Iver – Bon Iver

“As much as I love this album, and I do (if I think about it subjectively, standing alone), I unfortunately can’t help drawing comparison’s to For Emma, Forever Ago. As much as I don’t want to, I’m human, and loving a band means knowing when they’re strong and weak. It would be wrong of me to pretend this album existed in a bubble, living without ties to other releases, because it would mean this album was a product of completely originality (and it isn’t). This is a continuation of artist growth and development that challenges listeners to forget the feeling and mood of the previous album with a platter or new thoughts and ideas.”
