MOVIE REVIEW: ‘The Drop’ Is A Lingering Human Drama

Film: The Drop
Starring: Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini
Directed By: Michaël R. Roskam

Dennis Lehane, the author behind Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island, and Mystic River trades violence in for humanistic subtlety with The Drop, based upon his short story Animal Rescue. Starring Tom Hardy (Warrior), Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), this new story about mobs and money in Brooklyn waxes about a man breaking his innocence in life more than anything. With an oft-times operatic and been-there-done-that representation of a crime-gone-awry in a seedy …

The Marvel Cinematic Universe Has Found Its Thanos

There has never been a question whether or not the character of Thanos would appear in the Marvel cinematic universe, but amidst all the casting rumors and announcements of recent months his name is one that has been noticeably missing from conversation.

Speaking with Empire Magazine in a new interview, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirmed that Thanos has already been cast for the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy film. Feige was not willing to reveal the name, but it’s probably okay to assume an announcement will surface in the months ahead.

Speaking on Guardians‘ release, Feige did offer:

Watch: Tom Hardy in First Trailer for ‘Locke’

Locke premiered back in September at the Venice Film Festival and more recently played at Sundance, but the first trailer for the Tom Hardy thriller has now made its way online as the film prepares for a proper U.S. release on April 25.

The trailer brings to mind movies like Phone Booth and Buried, with Hardy the sole actor seen onscreen as the entire story unfolds in his car. His character, Ivan Locke receives a phone call that threatens to destroy his life just hours before the biggest day of his career.

The film comes from writer/director Steven Knight, …

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Sets May 2015 Release Date

Though principal photography for Mad Max: Fury Road wrapped in 2012, this photo of Tom Hardy to the left is really all we have to show for it. But alas, Warner Bros. has finally set a May 15, 2015 release date (in 3D) for writer/director George Miller’s fourth go-round with the character. That date gives the film a two-week buffer after the May 1 release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015’s loaded summer slate.

Hardy takes over the title role made famous by Mel Gibson 34 years ago. The film has experienced a troubled production, to say the …

Tom Hardy Cast In ‘Splinter Cell’ Movie

Not even a month after Michael Fassbender was cast as the lead in the Assassin’s Creed adaptation and Wreck-It Ralph became the highest rated video game movie ever made (suck it, The Wizard), Variety reports that Inception and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy has been cast as Sam Fisher in the long-delayed film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Dark Knight Rises

Movie: The Dark Knight Rises
Director: Christopher Nolan

I’ve been racking my brains for a week trying to think of some artistic analogy with which to introduce this film. I couldn’t muster one. In actual fact, I’m pleased this review is belated, because it’s given me the chance to take the film in twice and see my opinion do an almost total 180. I thought The Dark Knight Rises was a beautiful, contrarian disaster the first time I watched it – perhaps I was too overhyped or emotional, or a Friday evening viewing after a stressful week at work was …

The Dark Knight Rises Earns $25 Million In Advance Ticket Sales Alone

With just one day to go until its release worldwide, the Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer (our emphasis) The Dark Knight Rises has already clocked up a mouth-watering $25 million in advance ticket sales. Christopher Nolan’s final Batman behemoth is capitalising on a viral marketing campaign and the anticipation of cinema-goers everywhere as it looks ripe to smash the $158.4 million opening of its predecessor, The Dark Knight.

WATCH: New Dark Knight Rises TV Spot

With just under two months to go until Christopher Nolan’s behemoth conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy hits cinema screens, the marketing campaign is stepping up a notch with a new TV spot. This 30-second clip uses mainly the same footage as the theatrical trailer, with a few chilling additions including Sir Michael Caine’s Alfred telling Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), “You’re not Batman anymore.” The breakneck pace, chaotic crowd scenes, and frenetic editing also give a further indication as to the extent of the carnage Tom Hardy’s ruthless Bane will bring to bear on Gotham.

Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman Make Bootlegging Look Cool In First “Lawless” Trailer

Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy are a pair of criminal brothers who become feared outlaws in Prohibition-era America in this the first trailer for Lawless.

Making its’ debut on Yahoo! this morning, our first look at Lawless paints a thriving (not to mention gorgeous) vision of the film’s source material, The Wettest Country In The World by Matt Bondurant. The story follows the Bondurant brothers, a pair of Southern bootleggers who find themselves the targeted by crooked Southern authorities out for a share of the profits. Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, and Guy Pearce round out the cast.
