10 Years of Blood and Beers: Celebrating a Decade of ‘Shaun Of The Dead’

To this day, I remember exactly where I was the first time I saw Shaun of the Dead in 2004, and why I was watching it. My roommate and I caught a preview for it before another movie we were watching on DVD and immediately ventured over to our local movie place to rent a copy. At the time, I admittedly hadn’t experienced much British humor, or parodies in film, but Shaun of the Dead wasn’t necessarily a parody of the zombie films as the trailer and title had led us to believe. It was in fact “A romantic comedy. …

Lionsgate Picks Up ‘Maggie,’ A Film Full of Zombies, Fatherly Love, and Schwarzenegger

Per Joblo, Lionsgate has picked up the zombie anti-thriller Maggie. Taking a peak at the synopsis, the film looks to take a microscope to something usually only given a few quick seconds in zombie and infection flicks: the transformation.

A young woman becomes infected – likely by bite, but perhaps by blood spray or a bad burger. Her father takes her home to be with her family – this is clearly a slower transformation than that of some genre contributions – and we watch their final moments together. The focus is on the father and his relationship with …

First Trailer For ‘Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead’ Promises Zombie-Punching Action

Four years ago we were treated to gratuitous zombie violence and some good ol’ Nazi killing with Dead Snow, the Norwegian film from director Tommy Wirkola which pit a group of students against undead Nazi soldiers in a remote cabin in the snowy mountains. Now, after years of development it looks like the battle is far from over in the first trailer for Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead.

Opening to find our lone survivor, Martin, waking from what appears to be a coma, the first teaser for the sequel to Dead Snow picks up not long after the events …

Red Fang Drink Beer, Kill Zombies in Music Video for “Blood Like Cream”

Everyone’s favorite stoner metal outfit Red Fang is back with another wildly entertaining music video, this one for their latest single “Blood Like Cream.”

The music video sees the band fending off a slew of thirsty zombies in an attempt to preserve the world’s most important resource: beer. Fred Armisen of Portlandia and Saturday Night Live fame also makes an appearance in the clip.

The band is currently wrapping up a North American headlining tour in support of their latest album Whales and Leeches before heading to Europe for the next several months. You can read my review of Whales

‘Hatchet 3’ Director Releases Live-Action Recreation Of ‘Dead Island’ Game Teaser

Before the best-selling game Dead Island arrived in stores a cinematic trailer was released online that played like a short film told in reverse. A young girl was seen on the ground at the beginning of the clip, and as the story progressed you learned the fate of her family and everyone else on the island through a beautifully rendered clip. Now, Hatchet 3 director BJ McDonnell has recreated that promo shot-for-shot with real actors, and the results are even more hauntingly gorgeous than the original.

Released online through Machinima on Friday, McDonnell’s take on Dead Island‘s iconic trailer …

‘World War Z’ Sequel Already In Development

Well, that certainly did not take long.

Though many studios may see opening in second as a bit of a loss, The Hollywood Reporter has learned Paramount Pictures are rather ecstatic over the $66 million domestic debut of World War Z. So much so, in fact, that a sequel is already in development.

Speaking with THR, Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore confirmed the plans shortly after the weekend box office totals were posted on Sunday. The film’s domestic take is the highest opening weekend for a non-sequel action film since Avatar, as well as the largest opening ever …

Film: World War Z
Starring: Brad Pitt
Directed by: Marc Foster

Let’s get this out of the way right off the top: Anyone who read Max Brooks’ World War Z and spent the last few years wondering how a novel with no central character would be brought to life should know before paying see this film that the title is about as referential as things get. There are mentions of scenarios that played out in the book, as well as a relatively decent attempt at weaving certain events together, but as a whole nothing that appeared in the worldwide bestseller …

Last night I went to a screening of Brave (which was amazing by the way) and one of the things that caught my eye even before the movie started was the opening trailer for Disney’s latest movie Wreck-It Ralph. The movie follows Ralph (John C. Reilly), a villain in a videogame as he tries to change his public perception as a bad guy. I don’t want to give too much away, cause frankly half the fun is watching the trailer, but if this movie translates as well as it does when I watched the trailer yesterday we’re all in …
