We had the chance to speak with Chicago’s James Hrabak, a solo musician that recently released his debut EP under the moniker Slack Armada. Melding post-rock elements with ambient tones, Slack Aramada, for now, provides a 4-track instrumental effort comprised of true beauty and excellent influences. Drew Caruso’s ‘Best of 2013’ In Music

As the year ends, I find myself shuffling through the albums I have accrued over the past months. Each album an experience, an insight gained, a lens changed, I have continually found myself lost in the art that encapsulated the sonic apotheosis of this past year. The experiences captured within these sounds provide themselves as […]

UTG INTERVIEW: Vitamin Sun

While a smaller Boston based band at the moment, I have the pleasure of being friends with Vitamin Sun, a band that just released their first EP, Ergonometry. Weaving in and out of complicated time signatures, the progressive rock band is ready to blow up onto the scene. Sure to please fans of Coheed and […]

The full quote is as […]

REVIEW: Bon Iver – Bon Iver

“As much as I love this album, and I do (if I think about it subjectively, standing alone), I unfortunately can’t help drawing comparison’s to For Emma, Forever Ago. As much as I don’t want to, I’m human, and loving a band means knowing when they’re strong and weak. It would be wrong of me to pretend this album existed in a bubble, living without ties to other releases, because it would mean this album was a product of completely originality (and it isn’t). This is a continuation of artist growth and development that challenges listeners to forget the feeling and mood of the previous album with a platter or new thoughts and ideas.”
