UTG PHOTOS: Musink Festival (Day Three, 3/22/15)

Under The Gun sent photographer Erica Lauren to the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center on March 22, 2015 for The MUSINK Tattoo Convention and Music Festival.

Musink 2015 took over Costa Mesa, California this past weekend for their 8th year. Music and tattoo enthusiasts showed up in huge numbers for a weekend of body artwork and live music. The festival entertained fans with tattoo contests, classic cars, and talented artists available to work. With all of the non-musical activities aside, the lineup for Musink held its own for a great weekend of memorable performances.

Multiple Videos Surface From First blink-182 Show With Matt Skiba

Last night, at famed music club The Roxy in Los Angeles, Matt Skiba performed his inaugural set with pop punk forefathers blink-182. As most should already know, Skiba took the place of longtime guitarist and punk rock punchline Tom Delonge after a brutal and public feud between Delonge and the band’s other tenured members, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker.

Follow the jump to see various fan-shot videos of the new Mark, Matt, and Travis show, including classic tracks like “What’s My Age Again?,” “Dammit,” “Reckless Abandon,” and others, as well as newer blink numbers such as “Up All Night.” …

Fat Mike (NOFX) To Debut New Punk Musical, ‘Home Street Home’

Legendary punk frontman Fat Mike, of NOFX, is embarking on a rather ambitious endeavor next year: bringing punk rock to the stage. This will be done in the form of a musical called Home Street Home, with a soundtrack coming out on February 10 via Fat Wreck Chords. All this will be followed by a full-stage musical.

Apparently, Fat Mike has been working on this for years with Tony Award-winning producer Jeff Marx (Avenue Q) and Soma Snakeoil. Here is what Fat Mike told Rolling Stone about the collaboration:

“Ever since I saw Rocky Horror

STREAM: Alkaline Trio – “I’m Only Here To Disappoint”

With every song that Alkaline Trio releases, I’m becoming more and more certain that the Chicago group is on the road to releasing one of their best releases to date. Now that “I’m Only Here To Disappoint” is streaming on AltPress, those thoughts have only grown.

The song comes off of their ninth studio album, My Shame Is True, which is being released through Epitaph Records on April 2.

STREAM: Alkaline Trio – “I Wanna Be A Warhol”

Alkaline Trio is back with their latest track, “I Wanna Be A Warhol”. The track looks to be featured on My Shame Is True, an upcoming full-length by the band to be released through Epitaph Records on April 2. Personally, with all of the effects and synths, the track reminds me of frontman Matt Skiba’s other project, Matt Skiba And The Sekrets, but with a classic AK3 twist.

Alkaline Trio In Studio For New Album

Alkaline Trio is officially working on the follow up to last year’s Damnesia. The currently untitled album will be produced by Bill Stevenson.

Bassist Dan Andriano previously said “We’re going to go work with Bill [Stevenson] at Fort Collins at the Blasting Room. Bill and Jason [Livermore]. We’ve all wanted to work with Bill for a long time and this is kind of the time to do it. So we’re going to go hang out there in October. Make a new record.” But it seems they’ve entered earlier than expected, and have officially begun recording.

This might …

WATCH: Matt Skiba & The Sekrets’ ROUGH First Show

Matt Skiba And The Sekrets played their first show last night at the historic Metro venue in Chicago. Though we are still unsure exactly what happened, be it nerves or something else, the show quickly fell apart after Skiba and his bandmates took the stage. In fact, things went so off the rails that Skiba took to Twitter following the evening’s events to apologize to fans:

We at UTG have always been supporters of Skiba’s various efforts and gave his album with The Sekrets a 9/10, but as this is the hot topic of conversation we felt it best to …

REVIEW: Alkaline Trio – Damnesia

"What Damnesia teaches us is once you strip away the noise from Alk Trio, all that is left is some of the most heart-wrenching odes to life, love, friendship, and loss that has been written and/or recorded in the last half century. The chemistry between Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Derek Grant has never been more palpable and I sincerely doubt anyone's ability to say otherwise."
