REVIEW: Blindside – With Shivering Hearts We Wait

“The album isn’t a complete failure, but as I find myself picking out things I don’t like, I found it exponentially harder to pick out things that I did like. I feel bad, I want to like this band, but at the same time, I really just can’t. With Shivering Hearts We Wait simply doesn’t sound like an offering from a band that has had 17 years to hone their sound, and I just can’t ignore that fact.”

REVIEW: The Gun Show – Discontentment

The Gun Show may be the heaviest thing to come out of the midwest in 2011. Packing crushing riffs, passionate vocals, and energy to spare, Discontentment is an album you NEED to hear. Click through to find out more!

Asking Alexandria banned from venue

With the number of people who outspokenly hate this band, I have to imagine that some of you may read this headline and think to yourself, ‘Haha, awesome, yes!’ I will openly admit that the aforementioned reaction was that of my own. REVIEW: Emery – We Do What We Want

“Emery have once again proven that they are capable of evolving their sound while remaining true to their roots, a skill that very few bands have. We Do What We Want may not be every Emery fan’s favorite record, but it is inarguably a beautiful, emotional and aggressive piece of art.”

Review: Before Their Eyes – Untouchable

Artist: Before Their Eyes Album: Untouchable Genre: Post-hardcore/pop Label: Rise Records While the typical band constrains to one style of music, Ohio based Before Their Eyes, blend upbeat, catchy pop songs with more aggressive, post hardcore tunes, to set out and prove you don’t have to stick to one particular genre. Their unique style struck […]

Review: Close Your Eyes – We Will Overcome

Artist: Close Your Eyes Album: We Will Overcome Genre: Christian Hardcore/Brocore Label: Victory Records Say what you will about Tony Brummel, but he has an ear for what will sell. Even if some of his recent heavier signings have only appealed to select markets, Brummel has built an empire on his ability to find a […]

Review: TobyMac – Tonight

Artist: TobyMac Album: Tonight Genre: Pop/Rock/Hip Hop Label: ForeFront Having been making music as long, if not longer than I’ve been alive, TobyMac has become somewhat of a musical phenomenon. Having seen mainstream exposure through his [amazing] work in now defunct Christian group DC Talk, Mac is no stranger to the National scene. However, even […]

Review: Shapes Stars Make – These Mountains Are Safe

Artist: Shapes Stars Make Album: These Mountains are Safe Genre: Indie/Experimental Label: Facedown Records/Dreamt Music There’s a fine line in my book between artistic music and simply boring. On These Mountains are Safe, Shapes Stars Make, the latest product of Dreamt Music, wonder this line with a veteran tightrope walker’s nerves. Never afraid to take […]
