Song Shop: Max Bemis Will Write A Song Just For You This Holiday Season

A few years ago, Max Bemis, singer of Say Anything, announced a new idea he called The Song Shop.

In an effort to combat illegal downloading, the singer attempted to offer limited-time original music for dedicated fans to purchase directly. The result has been impressive, with over 3,000 fans having received original songs from Bemis over the past 4 years.

So how does it work? Well, once the shop officially opens, Max will take a limited number of written requests from fans for brand new original songs. Buyers can purchase an entire song for $150- but there …

Chris Conley Will Join Say Anything On Australian Tour

Say Anything are having a pretty rad day. Not only did their new video for “Six Six Six” premiere over on Spin, but Max Bemix announced on Twitter today that Chris Conley will be joining the ranks of Say Anything for the Australian leg of their upcoming tour. The singer, guitarist, and Saves The Day frontman recently wrapped up a massive UK and Europe tour for his band’s 2013 self-titled album. Touring with Say Anything seems like a great way to spend some newly found free time.

No one is more excited about it than Max Bemis. On Twitter, after …

Say Anything Release “Six Six Six” Music Video

There is a scene in Footloose where Kevin Bacon travels to an abandoned factory on the outskirts of his small town and proceeds to ‘practice’ one of the most intricate dance sequences ever projected onto the silver screen. He did not have a microphone in his hand at the time, but if he had – and if he were just a bit more angsty – I would think Max Bemis used his performance to plan the official video for Say Anything‘s “Six Six Six.”

Released today, the video for “Six Six Six” finds Bemis performing in a rundown factory, …

Say Anything Stream “Judas Decapitation”

Our friends at Noisey have been getting a lot of attention as of late, and today they’re no doubt seeing a flood of new visitors on account of them hosting the world premiere of Say Anything’s new song, “Judas Decapitation.”

When we last spoke about Say Anything, frontman Max Bemis had spoken with Billboard and revealed that the group’s new album was created without the use of a single guitar. That idea shocked fans at first, but as soon as people began engaging with the material it was clear guitars never played a huge role in creating the ‘sound’ Say …

Say Anything‘s summer tour kicks off in June, and in an update from the band, Max Bemis revealed what he likened to an “all-star lineup” of musicians that will make up their touring band.

New additions to their live band will include Fred Mascherino (ex-Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred, Terrible Things), Greg Dunn (Moving Mountains) and Kenny Bridges (Moneen). Filling out the band will be Reed Murray (Tallhart) and Garron DuPree (Eisley), who have been playing with the band for a while.

In the same update from the band, Bemis noted that the band will be reinterpreting their …

SINGLE REVIEW: Say Anything – “Six Six Six”

Artist: Say Anything
Single: “Six Six Six”
Album: Hebrews
Label: Equal Vision Records

Being a Say Anything fan isn’t always easy. Max Bemis is possibly the most volatile songwriter in the scene — changing his style drastically between releases to fit whatever new concept he’s come up with. As seen in the bulk of 2012’s relatively disappointing Anarchy, My Dear, the drastic high concept style isn’t always successful, and many fans are left clamoring for the “glory days” of …Is a Real Boy and In Defense of the Genre. The problem with Anarchy, My Dear (ignoring the …

Say Anything Tease Guest Vocalists For New Album

Say Anything spent the fall of 2013 hard at work on their as-yet-untitled sixth album. The band have yet to announce too much information about the full-length, but yesterday, frontman Max Bemis tweeted the initials of a number of guest vocalists who will appear on the album. Over a series of tweets, Bemis mentioned the following:

If you have guesses as to who might be appearing on the album, comment and let us know.

In other Say Anything-related news, Bemis will be embarking on a …

Max Bemis Details New Comic Book Series ‘Evil Empire’

We don’t plan to cover comics any more in 2014 than we did in 2013, but with titles like this we may change our minds…

After releasing his comic book mini-series Polarity to acclaim back in April, Say Anything frontman will be returning to the comic book world with Evil Empire on March 5, 2014. The sixteen-issue series follows a rapper named Reese as she overcomes an “Evil Empire” that is growing in power. Max gave in-depth details on the concept and characters, as well as his motivation and influences in a lengthy interview over at Comic Book Resources.…

UTG LIST: 10-Year Album Anniversaries We Want To See Celebrated In 2014

The majority of our staff was in high school a decade back and as 10-year anniversary tours have seemingly become a staple in the genres we held closest to our hearts at the time (and still), we’ve grown to accept this fact and find it only appropriate that we again look back and pinpoint our favorite albums from a simpler time that we would love to see celebrated in the form of a tour, select shows, or at the very least, get a first-time vinyl treatment or reissue.

2013 was a massive year for bands and fans alike in terms …

Max Bemis Working On Two Additional Comic Book Series

The frontman of Say Anything, Max Bemis, is a busy guy. He not only spends his time writing catchy tunes for the band, but he is also in another one with his wife, called Perma. On top of that, he wrote a successful comic book series known as Polarity. He’s now announced that he has two more series in the works, and after reading the Polarity series I think it’s safe to say these new comics are going to be awesome. You can check out a couple of tweets by Bemis confirming there are some upcoming comics …

This will be the outfit’s first effort to not feature the musical styling’s of drummer Coby Linder, who left the band late last year on good terms.

Max Bemis Announces Solo Tour With Matt Pryor And Sherri DuPree

Max Bemis, front man for Say Anything, did a solo acoustic show in support of his rarities release before the full band went on tour. This winter, Bemis will head out on a full fledged solo tour with his main support being Matt Pryor of the Get Up Kids, Sherri DuPree from Eisley, Perma (the band of Max and Sherri), and Merriment. Given no new Say Anything releases, it’s hard to predict what the setlist will be, but it’s safe to guess songs based around songwriting rather than guitar solos and what not. He’s even hinted at doing some …
