REVIEW: Visions – Home

“Unfortunately, I only have 8 gigs of space on my proverbial chopping block, so I have to be fairly selective about who makes the cut, and because of that, Visions didn’t quite make it.”

REVIEW: Boys No Good – Never Felt Better

“All that aside however, this is a very enjoyable album. It has everything that makes pop punk amazing to those who love it (and in my case, annoying cos I hate it) but for the most part it manages to deftly sidestep the pitfalls. It’s sure of itself and well-executed, though it does let itself down with some poor mixing and occasionally insufficient vision.”

REVIEW: Get Scared – Best Kind Of Mess

“I can tell you that there are many who will hate this, as tends to be the case with such wannabe forays into perilously scene territory. Yet, for all its pastiche tendencies, Best Kind of Mess is actually a lot of fun and much better than its silly lyrics and theatrical postering might suggest.”

REVIEW: Falling In Reverse – The Drug In Me Is You

“A complete and utter disappointment that those still able to cling to the past may enjoy, but only for a short time. Stream it online and forget it. The rest of probably already have.”

REVIEW: Burn Halo – Up From The Ashes

“This whole Southern California 80’s metal revival scene just doesn’t really work for me, or perhaps it just had it’s time in the spotlight, and that time has since passed; I know I used to love Atreyu, and while I hate to admit it, I even dabbled in Eighteen Visions a little bit. But it just doesn’t do it for me anymore…”

REVIEW: New Years Day – The Mechanical Heart EP

“A band like New Years Day is for the Green Day crowd; a dark, yet accessible pop-rock band, they aren’t anything more, but they don’t claim to be. So if you grew up on “American Idiot” era Green Day, or ever listened to My Chem’s “Black Parade”, this album would be right up your alley. And while it’s not exactly my taste, at least they didn’t fall into the “nice people; horrible band” category.”

REVIEW: Fair To Midland – Arrows & Anchors

“In the end, I’m sort of torn about this album. Yes, some parts are catchy, they seem to be a quality rock/progressive band, but it is just not quite the same as bands such as Porcupine Tree and the like. I am glad I came back to this album and gave it another shot though, because it certainly deserved a solid listen. But while I did enjoy parts of it, I don’t really see this album making it’s way on to my regular rotation. It did inspire me to give Deadwing another spin, though.”

REVIEW: Black Veil Brides – Set The World On Fire

“All said, Black Veil Brides’ music is abhorrent, and in all respects, I truly dislike the band; their complete lack of musical imagination, their utter dependance on using their image to earn themselves fans, and the shock-value image they depend on. But despite all those inherent flaws that disqualify them as a legitimate band, at least by my standards, they do have a seriously loyal and devoted cult following, and that’s simply because of vocalist “Andy Six”’s exceptionally brilliant marketing tactics, which paid off, especially considering the completely lack of musical depth, and some credit is deserved for that, even if it’s sort of a hollow victory. But that certainly doesn’t excuse the fact that this album is in no way even listenable.”

REVIEW: Limp Bizkit – Gold Cobra

Is the return of Limp Bizkit perfect? No, but it is damn close. I have no doubt that anyone who previously loved Limp Bizkit will instantly fall in love with Gold Cobra, but the truly amazing part is just how universally appealing they still are. Seriously, if 2011 ends and Limp Bizkit aren’t once again among the biggest acts in the rock world, I will legitimately be shocked.
