Minus the Bear have announced the ‘Lost Loves & Beer Commercials Tour’ for this October and November. The tour will both celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band’s They Make Beer Commercials Like This EP (which will be played in full) and support the October 7 release of Lost Loves, a collection of ten songs the group has recorded over the course of their career that didn’t make it on to any of their official releases.

O’Brother, Young Widows and Mansions will all take turns opening the tour, so consult the tour’s beautiful poster below to find out which …

Mansions Perform Acoustic Version Of “Flowers In My Teeth”

The Seattle-based indie rock duo known as Mansions recently played an intimate, exclusive performance of “Flowers In My Teeth” at Sole Repair as a part of Ploom‘s #RethinkMusic sessions. The performance was recorded, and now we can listen to the acoustic version of their incredibly popular single. You can check it out below the break.

“Flowers In My Teeth” has become the band’s signature song. It’s a song that many people who aren’t as familiar with them probably know anyway. Hearing a stripped down version of it is great for any fan as it shows off their ability to …

Mansions Blog About ‘New Best Friends’ Anniversary

Mansions‘ debut album New Best Friends celebrated its five-year anniversary March 3 and its second pressing went on sale yesterday. Now we have a heartfelt blog post from vocalist Christopher Browder about the album’s anti-climactic original release and the journey the band has been on since then.

View the full blog post after the jump. You can purchase the repressing of New Best Friends and a brand new 7″ from Bad Timing Records here. The band will be heading out on tour later this month supporting La Dispute.

Mansions To Reissue ‘New Best Friends’ On Vinyl

Before Mansions released one of UTG’s favorite albums of 2013, Doom Loop, and their excellent 2011 effort, Dig Up The Dead, they released a full length titled New Best Friends. The album just had its five-year anniversary yesterday, and in celebration the group decided to release a limited 12″ pressing of it. In addition to the reissue, the band will be dropping a 7″ that features two tracks that have previously not been pressed. Those songs are “Biggest Lie” and “Tangerine.”

The vinyl will go on sale at 1pm EST, which is about 11 hours from now. …

FREE DOWNLOAD: La Dispute Tour Sampler

This spring is chock full of great tours, but one of the most exciting lineups features the pairing of Michigan post-hardcore quintet La Dispute and their Baltimore-based counterparts, Pianos Become the Teeth. The month-long tour, which includes support from Mansions will make its way across the US and Canada starting March 14, and you can see the full list of dates after the break.

So there’s no risk of you going into the show entirely unfamiliar with the bands, Soundsupply is offering a special, totally free Tour Drop featuring two choice cuts from each group. While all six of …

Check Out Mansions On Audiotree

Audiotree is one of my favorite live video sessions around right now. With a wonderfully humbling atmosphere, a crew that noticeably cares about the current state of music, and great filming and sound, their approach to bringing live sets to the masses is certainly welcomed.

They recently released their live session from Mansions, a band that is consistently loved here at UTG. Our own Jacob Tender gave their latest album, Doom Loop, a perfect 10. You can check out his review of it here.

The set features six tracks from the band’s roster, spanning their discography. Make …

Jacob Tender’s ‘Best Of 2013′ In Music

‘Tis the season to make the most difficult choices I have to make all year. Seriously, my life is easy enough to make that statement true. I hate making these lists, more-so this year than any year previous. Yet I’m obligated to do so. So here I am.

You see, in January, I told myself that it would be a good idea to listen to more music. What resulted in that was a fine list of albums that I liked, some that I loved, and some that surprised me. Come December, I had roughly 90 records in a tidy Google …

La Dispute To Release ‘Rooms Of The House’ On March 18

The countdown on La Dispute‘s website hit zero today, and as many speculated, there was an album announcement waiting at the end. The post-hardcore quintet will release their third full-length, Rooms of the House, on March 18, 2014. The album was written in an isolated cabin in the upper peninsula of their native Michigan and recorded in Philadelphia, PA with producer Will Yip, who has worked on a number of major releases this year, including the latest from Balance & Composure and Polar Bear Club.

Rooms of the House marks La Dispute’s departure from longtime label No Sleep …

Adrian UTG

Adrian Garza’s ‘Best of 2013’ In Music

Well it’s that time of the year where we in the music world collectively follow through to toss in our 2 cents worth of opinions (once more) by means of our “best of” lists. After much thought about it – and believe me, I’ve been working on my list since last month – I’ve finally had the time to slave away and finish this beast off at the end of my college finals week

2013 was such a great year for music and for me as well. There were plenty of artists who either put out incredible debut full-lengths, and …
