Plies accused of stealing “Bond Money”

Slip-N-Slide Records, Plies, and an independent label have been named in a lawsuit filed by Songwriter Romell Caldwell, a Charlotte, North Carolina songwriter.

The lawsuit names Slip-n-Slide, Plies, UDigg Records and 101 Distribution as defendants in a copyright infringement lawsuit saying that they used Caldwell’s original song “Dim Hits” without his consent in Plies “Bond Money” on his 36 Ounces mixtape. Caldwell recorded “Dim Hits” in 2001 and submitted them the copyrighted song to Trina in 2004 who was not named in the lawsuit. In his lawsuit, Caldwell is seeking to stop the sale of the song, in addition to all allowed damages and losses for missed licensing and sales revenue.
