Tom Hanks claims “Toy Story 4” is on the way

No lie, I wept like a child during Toy Story 3. I know I’m not alone in this either, especially considering the film not only won an Oscar, but also grossed $1,063,171,911 at the global box office (yes, that is billion). However, I thought we wrapped things up nicely at the end when (spoiler alert) the toys were passed along to their new owner. There was no need to keep going, Andy, and us as a viewer, had ended the journey.

…Or have we?

While speaking with the BBC this week, Tom Hanks sparked a flurry of internet buzz when he responding to a question regarding the possibility of a fourth film by saying, “I think there will be, yeah. I think they’re working on it now.”

The truth is, Pixar have never actually stopped working on the characters and universe from Toy Story. There was a short before this weekend’s cars and there are rumors another will appear before The Muppets in the fall. In fact, Disney is even introducing another new storyline for the film series’ characters, a space adventure featuring Buzz Lightyear and space-suit clad Woody and Rex blasting off to fight the evil Zurg, to be featured in new toys and a digital book.

So while we cannot confirm Toy Story 4 will happen, we can say we would not be surprised if it did.
