UTG LIST: Top 5 “Scream” Trilogy Kills

In celebration of the DVD/Blu Ray release of Scream 4 this week, UTG has compiled our 5 favorite kill from the original trilogy!

Kills, thrills, laughs, and Gale Weathers’ terrible outfits, the Scream films really have it all. Even if you think some of the sequels fell a bit short of the original (I still struggle to remember 3 at times), there is no way you can deny their impact on horror and pop culture as a whole. Hell, we may have never had the Scary Movie series without these gems (wait, would that be a bad thing?).

Click through to see what blood-soaked scenes made our list. If you disagree, tell us! We’ve been racking our brains (and the brains of our Twitter followers) and the conversation has been great!

Also, don’t forget to support horror this week and pick up the DVD or Blu Ray of Scream 4, a great installment in one of horrors’ best franchises.

5. Cotton Weary & Christine Hamilton (Scream 3)

Did anyone really expect Cotten Weary to make it out of Scream 2 alive? I know I didn’t, which I guess makes sense since they wasted no time getting rid of him (and his girlfriend) at the top of 3. This isn’t the most creative death of the series, but a great one nonetheless.

4. Randy Meeks (Scream 2)

The original meta horror fan, Randy is one of the most quoted, yet often overlooked characters in the entire franchise. Without him, most of the jokes in all the films would play more like bad writing than a hilarious poke at modern pop culture. It sucked to see him go, but at least he goes out with bang (well, not really, but you get the “point”).

3. Stu Matcher (Scream)

Stu never caught a break, did he? First he was Billy’s patsy for the entirety of the first film, the this? Poor guy just wanted a date with Sid.

2. Maureen Evans & Phil Stevens (Scream 2)

Any fears the Scream 2 would suck royally compared to the original were quickly dismissed after the viewing the film’s elaborate introductory double kill. Both actors do great, but it’s probably the “it could be anyone” feel of the scenario that truly makes it linger in our minds.

1. Casey Becker (Scream)

The one that started it all is still the one everyone remembers. In fact, we’ll go as far as to say this is one of the most iconic death scenes ever in horror. Not only that, it also set into motion the last decade or so of mainstream horror. Everywhere you look today, especially in mainstream horror, there are traces of this franchise and this scene is what set it all off.

How about in Scream 2 when that cop gets his face impaled on those pipes? That was awesome.
