Foo Fighters’ workhorse frontman and former drummer of Nirvana, Dave Grohl is set to direct and produce an upcoming documentary about Van Nuys, California studio Sound City.

In addition to Nirvana’s timeless Nevermind from 1991, such renowned artists as Neil Young, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, and Nine Inch Nails have recorded at Sound City since it was incorporated in 1969. Seven of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” were recorded at this legendary hot spot for some of the world’s biggest outfits.
