Frank Ocean Comes Out, Admits to Loving a Man

In an unexpected turn of events, young R&B crooner Frank Ocean has posted a very charming statement on his Tumblr expressing his feelings for a man that he evidently fell in love with in the summer of 2007. The heartfelt piece Ocean has released was allegedly supposed to appear in the liner notes of his debut album, Channel Orange, which is to be released July 17.

This is a courageous and commendable move by Ocean, especially considering that his crew, Odd Future, are well known for their intolerant, homophobic lyrical content, regardless of the fact that their only female member, Syd tha Kyd, is known to be a lesbian. Like most things Odd Future, we’re sure it’s all about the shock value.

As we don’t feel that it matters in any way whether Frank is straight, bi-sexual, or gay, (and it’s unfortunate that these things are still considered to be news) we respect his decision to bring it to the public. His sexual orientation in no way weakens his talents musically and we personally still look forward to Channel Orange and his future efforts. You can view his statement at the link provided above or right here after the jump and let us know your thoughts on Ocean opening up about his sexuality!
